I grew up in catholic schools and I appreciate the mystic stuff, but as far as transmuting pain and transforming your life, that can only be done alone. But good luck whatever path you take. I have had a different experience with church. I am the youngest of 6 just before my 1st communion the priest embarrassed my mother in public after church. My father always stayed home from church, that was his time alone. after church the priest said to other ladies of the church, why does that women have to bring those braty kids. My mother was devistated.

CON’T. my mother didnt go back to church until we were grown. I never got my first commun. My mother now go to church every sunday, But about 20 years later. different church. I think Im having the worst time about it I cant forgive hurting my mom.

I think she’s sweet that she’s still defending the cat I get injured all the time at work cause cats get scared at the vet A LOT, but its really not the cats fault cause they are just reacting the way they should when scared/nervous/angry. Why the Humane Society people gave a cat with that profile to a reporter who obviously knows very little about cat body/verbal language is beyond me. Abused cat being pinned down for a report. Bad combination. Ouch – poor cat, poor reporter. Bad day all around.

Poor her. She’s a dog person that’s why she was shaking it. That’s what I did when I first held a cat.
She was probably nervous so that’s why she didn’t notice that the cat was growling.
When I get nervous, I totally zone out and not really know what is going on.

The littlest things can spook cats. My cat that loves my brother more than anything in the world got spooked by a slammed door and ended up putting a claw through my brother’s cheek. A couple stitches and shots later my brother had the cat back in his arms and the cat was purring. This is just something that happens with cats, which are in general far more alert and less trusting animals than dogs.

When a cat becomes uncomfortable and untrusting in a situation as that cat did, you need to drop it/put it down immediately. Somebody probably should have briefed Cochrane on cats prior to the incident. Cats are not blindly obediant and trusting like dogs. They are independent and not pack animals, so they don’t blindly trust you like a dog would the pack leader. Drop the cat lady! It cares about itself first, you are a non-factor.

If that was a dog biting her, there’s no way the animal shelter would be able to adopt that animal out. They’d be forced to euthanize it. But since it was a cat, it’s ok? If the cat gets a second chance, dogs should also. But that’s not the case in most shelters.

Just another stone to add to the mountain of evidence creationists like to pretend doesn’t exist.

And while we’re on the subject of mutations, I have a question. Let’s say there was a planet with life on it with all the same chemistry as earth life, but it had higher levels of background radiation and therefore more mutations per generation for a life form of given genome size. Would they evolve faster than life on earth, given the same environmental conditions? Is there a point at which mutation would become more rapid than natural selection could deal with and evolution would cease?

another short answer: HIV fits the criteria you just described. HIV is a retrovirus and has no repair mechanism when a copying mistake is made. onlyberg; I wake up alive everyday some die in their sleep. Is my faith in God that will help me achieve my goals for success. There are some who were once rich but end up homeless. God is not coming down from the sky just to help an indiviual. A person must be lucky if God did that.

Better to help them learn to cope with thier disability, get them help to survive in the world, set them up financially as much as possible than to lie to them = that only hurts them more in the long run.

We should not tempt God. If a individual in deep trouble they must find the way out. Yes there’s the lucky one who God will save, and there are those who must help themselves. There are different reasons why many have faith. It could be ‘the bible said so” or something else. Everyone have a reason to choose their fate.

I work in mental health and have seen severely disturbed schizophrenics not only battling their illness but are further tormented because christians (often family) have convinced them their illness is the work of the devil, that they will go to hell or maybe ‘one day’ god will cure them. A few christians have even told me they deserve to be ill as punishment for their sins! Some do cure themselves though- they suicide.

It is the closest we can get to seeing the beginnings of a religion. And yes, they too have stories regarding volcanoes. It seems that it is as common theme in original naturalistic beliefs. Not a god, but an unknown and scary natural phenomena needing to be explained. And the fumes from an active volcano can cause hallucination…

In the sacrifical death and resurrection of Christ, Satan was defeated and Christ took back the dominion and gives it freely but only to believers but Satan will be thrown into the abyss at the end of the great tribulation, loosed for a season and cast into Gehenna which is the hell for the torment of the bodies and souls of the unsaved. All this is in Revelation.
